GTA Conflict-free matal policy

  • GTA shares the worldwide concern regarding allegations that profits from illegal metals mining in the Eastern Region of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) may be fueling human rights atrocities, and that these illegally mined materials may be making their way into the electronics supply chain.

  • For the past several years, many industry groups, including Electronics Industry Citizenship Coalition (EICC), the Global e Sustainability Initiative (GeSI), the International Tin Research Institute (ITRI), Tin Supply Chain Initiative (iTSCi) and the IPC Solder Product Value Council (SPVC), have been working to provide transparency and accountability concerning the supply of raw materials coming from the conflict zones of the DRC.  GTA fully supports these efforts and the EICC Agreement “that mineral extraction and transport activities that fuel conflict are unacceptable”

  • GTA requires all raw material suppliers to source from smelters validated as compliant to a Conflict Free Smelter (CFS) protocol using the CFS complaint smelter list, the suppliers shall establish conflict free metals policy and due diligence frameworks, perform due diligence and related management systems to ensure that parts and products supplied to GTA are Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) conflict-free, do not contain metals derived from “conflict minerals”; columbite-tantalite (tantalum), cassiterite (tin), gold, wolframite (tungsten), or their derivatives such that they do not directly or indirectly finance or benefit armed groups through mining or mineral trading in the DRC or an adjoining country. Due diligence activities include, but are not limited to, supply chain audits, supply chain mapping back to the point at which the metal was refined from concentrate by the mineral processor, country of origin analysis and other documentation reviews

  • The supplier or subcontractor who provide tantalum, tin, gold and tungsten,   must provide its due diligence information and documentation to GTA.
